Pīnyīn or Pīnyīm? edit

“Pīnyīn” would indicate that it is a loan word directly from Mandarin. “Pīnyīm” (POJ “phin-im”) or even “pīngyīm” (POJ “pheng-im”) would be the cognate to Mandarin “Pīnyīn”. – Kaihsu (talk) 20:04, 22 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

Why pìngyīm (phēng-im), not pīngyīm (pheng-im)? edit

Iûⁿ Ún-giân's dictionary says that both syllables in 拼音 have the first tone (pheng-im in Peh-oe-ji). There are also etymological tones. Why does this article use pìngyīm (POJ phēng-im) and not pīngyīm (POJ pheng-im)? Is it a mistake, or is it really pronounced that way?
