Date of depopulation edit

Hey Huldra. What date does Morris give? 25th or 28-30th? Same goes for Kfar 'Ana. There is a discrepancy between the infobox dates and the main article dates. Tiamut^talk 15:23, 15 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Yes, you are right (it looks as if Morris does not quite agree with himself, here). I have given the dates my version of Morris (from 2004) gives; both for Bayt Dajan and Kfar 'Ana he gives the date as the 25th. There is a later printing of the book, which is supposed to have fixed printing-errors from the 2004-version, however, I don´t have that. (I think Ashley might have a copy). 1948 war edit

I added a clarification about a certain part of the article - "cleansing the area", which is in hebrew a israeli millitary jargon that means to secure an area. I think it is much more appropriate to use the term securing the area rather than cleansing which might give the feel as if ethnic cleansing was in order (ethnic cleansing was utterly refuted by Morris himself, who is cited). Anyway, because i have little experience in editing wiki pages i would love to hear some feedback. Thanks. MrZaf (talk) 21:58, 15 May 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi MrZaf, you need to determine if the source which used the word "cleansing" clarified that it was just military slang for securing an area. Another reliable secondary source that clarifies the matter could also be of use. So until then, I have to revert your recent edit since it currently falls under WP:Original research. Hi, well this is pretty much common knowledge in Israel. i don't know if anyone ever wrote a Hebrew-English military jargon dictionary... and about Morris' book it self, i hold a copy of the hebrew version so i don't have an english translation. But, since the actual source is an Israeli archive document and who ever wrote this sentence in wiki also bothered to write the original hebrew term in english characters ("[tihur hashetah]") i suspect that means that the writer didn't have a translated version of the term and translated it on his own, otherwise you wouldn't expect to see the hebrew term there.

I can also tell you that one can find Hebrew official sites that use the term "tihur", such as in the Israeli parliament site. i doubt it that if tihur meant ethnic cleansing is was in the parliament's website describing the goals of military operations. by the way, tihur, literally, is a verb which means to purify, or to cleans.
