Not a FPS edit

The only "first person shoot" part is when using the sniper zoom ! That doesn't make the game a FPS, or else "Hitman" or "Max Payne" would be considered as FPS too. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.101.195.164 (talk) 09:06, 30 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

The AA gun is First person aswell. I agree though that this game is not an FPS. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.236.47.12 (talk) 11:03, 24 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not too sure, but I think it's called Third Person Shooter, although I've never heard this term outside of BFH which means big fucking hammer —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.213.241.215 (talk) 02:14, 11 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

To respond to the third person shooter remark, yes, it is an actual term. it would be best to describe it as such. The Legacy (talk) 19:20, 2 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

That doesn't matter. You can make a cartoon style game on any engine you wan't.—Preceding unsigned comment

Um, NO! edit

O who wrote the crap about the "convinence items"??? Dice has strictlly said that they will not be implementing those in the game. ALSO! the cite for that leads to a FANSITE which is not a valid resource for information. PLUS even the fansite says the BF heroes doesn't have Convince items. I'm deleting the text about that immediatlly.--CrazyOmega (talk) 22:23, 27 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Now that I'm looking further into this, several of the cites lead to fansites, this is unaceptable. I will be removing anything that is not verified by a legit source.--CrazyOmega (talk) 22:30, 27 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

"Characters" Section edit

I did my best to remedy the horrible grammar, sentence structure, and spelling of a former editor, but I am not sure if the information in the section is entirely relevant. If someone that does not write a 15-year-old (or younger) child would like to edit the section to meet the Wikipedia guidelines, have at it. For starters, it needs a citation. Vandalism edit

The user at 124.180.177.88 redirected the page to Team Fortress 2. I cannot understand the criticism of Battlefield Heroes with the use of comparison to Team Fortress 2. How does cartoon graphics in both the games mean that DICE is copying Valve? Are the developers of games with realistic graphics all copying one another? I cannot stand the half brained idiots that cannot look pass a video games appearance.

P.S. I am a fan of Team Fortress 2 and, so far, also of Battlefield Heroes. Ace Fool (talk) 02:17, 8 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Obvious Vandalism edit

metagame edit

"The point system in Battlefield Heroes is being called Metagame"

Is the point system really being called "metagame" or was the point system being describes AS a Metagame

The official website actually describes it as the "Metagame" -CwH —Preceding unsigned comment added by 70.17.112.54 (talk) 20:45, 3 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

--They stated that there will be a Metagame, which appears to be of the same concept as the battle map that Endwar will have where each battle, if the player is participating in the metagame, influences the map —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.193.197.99 (talk) 05:56, 13 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

A free game edit

Obviously its free but saying you will have to pay to get more custom things that aren't of value its supposed to be free so don't put that in. RoflOhLol (talk) 18:55, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Signup for closed beta edit

Is it worth mentioning that it's possible for anyone to signup for the closed beta? If so, how should the link be properly included in the article? Beta signup SBIT (talk) 13:44, 18 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

release date edit

release date will be september 30. User: Jalh

It wasn't. ^^

Dice say: They end the closed beta now and reopen it early 2009 so the release is maybe 2009. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.178.193.192 (talk) 14:54, 14 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Current release date is unknown - but most definitely not the 30th of April as shown here. It will probably be summer this year, but afaik Dice have released no official statement so I didn't feel comfortable putting anymore better then TBC. Ediblespread (talk) 12:36, 8 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

DRM edit

The question has to be asked, considering the recent slating of EA for their Spore DRM. Will this game contain the same kind of software? The little trust and respect I had for EA has been decimated by that incident. I realise that DRM is pointless, given the nature of the game. But I wouldn't put it past EA to include bits of privacy-invading software for various reasons. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.15.15.120 (talk) 16:19, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

There won't be retail release. It is a free download. Who would want to put DRM in free stuff?. --SkyWalker (talk) 16:38, 20 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
EA can be stupid at times... but probably not THAT stupid. I hope 72.223.71.156 (talk) 20:54, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gunner class? edit

What happened to the gunner class? i would like to add it in but don't know how. I also need a reputable place that says this. 72.148.190.48 (talk) 02:14, 6 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

URL edit

Section out of date edit

"There is not much information in regards to additional weapons. However, there have been mentions of the sticky bomb. The intent of this weapon is to be effective against tanks so that there is a balance between the armored vehicles and infantry. The sticky bomb will allow you to damage tanks, and is available to every class."

Dynamite is now in the beta and performs this function. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.70.15 (talk) 22:20, 3 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

"Dynamite is now in the beta". Are you a beta-tester ? Then you are not suppposed to give out information about the game. If you are not, how did you get that information ? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.235.198.242 (talk) 00:03, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Release of protected information edit

Currently, the game is still in close beta. Therefore, any release on wikipedia of content discovered in the beta would technically violate the NDA every tester signed. I removed some sentences / did an overhaul of the gameplay section, but for most of the information in the article, I don't know what is relative to content disclosed by DICE/EA and what is in the article only because people who have played the beta added their own knowledge to the article... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.235.198.242 (talk) 00:00, 23 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

I am in beta but I didn't sign an NDA, only a EULA. 65.29.139.88 (talk) 22:17, 29 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

You are right, it is an EULA, not a NDA. But it's still expressly specified that you cannot disclose ANY information which hasn't been made official yet. However, on other games ( I'm thinking America's Army) you actually have to sign a NDA. which is why I got myself confused...I play too many video games :D Garzhul (talk) 02:01, 1 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I am in beta and just read the EULA, there is a NDA clause. You play the game, they can, and may, sue you for disclosing information.Pressondude (talk) 00:18, 6 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

as it seems to be the case with many games these days edit

Regretablly, BFH is already swamped full of cheats (aimbots). I guess the game will end up like combat arms. The real dissapointment, is that in a beta, the software company is supposed to get feedback from the game, but they have done nothing to actually do so. of course, you can put your credit card in the beta and spend money, so that function was implemented just fine. This seems like an all too common story from the battlefield series, where hacks seem to be the norm in a game.

I hate to be the no-spoilers nazi...and not necessarily...PB on BF2 is pretty stable67.149.249.153 (talk) 23:36, 12 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

First of all, wikipedia isn't for discussion. But anyways, they have dealt with the aimbotters. I haven't seen any around anymore. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.80.128.65 (talk) 05:01, 18 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Not a Beta edit

Is this not out of Beta now? Anyone can sign up from their frontpage anyways. And where to put useless information like "the plate on the car of the Nationals has the initials IM412394, the car is type S 79"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.17.26.26 (talk) 17:09, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Out of beta, as determined by the infobox: Release date(s) June 25, 2009. As for where to put the 'useless information': nowhere; trivia like that doesn't belong on Wikipedia. DP76764 (Talk) 17:47, 10 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

This game is not yet out of Beta. The Meta game may be released in the PTE version of beta, though. 75.18.219.126 (talk) 22:49, 16 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Available maps edit

A section introducing the maps would be nice to have. This section could elaborate on the characteristics of each map such as vehicles, map symmetry and so on. White rotten rabbit (talk) 09:01, 21 September 2009 (UTC)Reply

Such material is usually discouraged per WP:GAMEGUIDE. Eik Corell 14:36, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Whole status of the article edit

This article is clearly a mess. Most of its content is the same as it was months ago, while the game has evolved much. There is also a lack of information. There should be at least a short sentence to describe each class' role. There has been no developement towards the metagame yet. There is no information about the maps in the article (the current number of maps, 5, should at least be noted somewhere). Something should be written about the factions and backstory (which is easy since there is almost none, except the video showing that the Nationals cheated at the 1936 olympics). These are the major problems of the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Xthuser (talkcontribs) 15:39, 17 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Developer edit

Release date is wrong. edit

This game was placed in open beta in 2009, but was not actually released until late 2011, if anyone can fix this before I get a chance it would be very appreciated. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dreg102 (talkcontribs) 16:39, 26 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

Cheating edit

At least one supplier, Aimbotjunkies, offers cheats for BFH. They seem to be so widely used that BFH is almost "unplayable" for people not using Aimbotjunkies or a similar cheat engine / aimbot. 93.219.158.235 (talk) 14:03, 18 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

MD5 is not encryption edit

In the Security Breach subsection under the Development section, it states that LulzSec managed to obtain "MD5-hashed passwords of over 550,000 beta users". The last sentence in the paragraph states that "only screen names and encrypted passwords were taken by the hackers". This is inaccurate because MD5 is a hashing algorithm (i.e. 1 way) and not an encryption algorithm (i.e. 2 way). The Rock, Paper, Shotgun source (21) does not mention how the passwords were stored (but perhaps the editor on here downloaded the database dump and looked at the hashes); whereas the VG247 source quotes EA on saying that the passwords were encrypted.

No clue whether or not EA is covering themselves by saying the 550,000 passwords (hashed with an algorithm that should have been deprecated a decade before the incident) were encrypted, but I just figured I'd note it here.
