Casualties
editI don't have the book references in the current lists, but in some online checks, examining monument markers, and reading first person letters from the Kansas Territorial website it appears that 5 Kansas were killed, at least one of them murdered as a prisoner ("Dutch Charley", presumably Charley Keiser listed on the monument.) Some others were wounded, and a dozen or more were prisoners. On the Missouri side at least 5 pro-slavery men were wounded, but nothing like the casualty estimate that John Brown made. I would like to see a compilation from a later historian to confirm numbers. It looks like we can do a lot better than "unknown", at least listing admitted casualties by both sides.
