This battle cannot be considered a siege given that the article makes no mention of the Afghans launching any sort of siege against Darbar Sahib.Instead the Afghans got into a skirmish with 30 Sikhs under Baba Gurbaksh Singh Twarikh e Khalsa (talk) 00:05, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Twarikh e Khalsa Is there any source that refers to it as a siege specifically? If not, perhaps you can start a request to rename the article. ThethPunjabi (talk) 10:41, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
None of the sources cited on this page refer to it as a siege. If anything it was more of a clash or skirmish between the Sikhs and Afghans not a siege Twarikh e Khalsa (talk) 18:32, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Twarikh e Khalsa Then I will support renaming the article. What about a new name that replaces the word “siege” with “battle”? ThethPunjabi (talk) 22:27, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

Battle or skirmish should work as supported by the sources Twarikh e Khalsa (talk) 22:42, 1 March 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Twarikh e Khalsa I moved the page to the new article title. ThethPunjabi (talk) 04:31, 2 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thank you brother Twarikh e Khalsa (talk) 05:23, 2 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
a siege is when the enemy surrounds the other team. In the battle the 30 men were surrounded by the large army of 30,000 and had no supplies which is why it is a siege. Ronnie Macroni (talk) 16:42, 14 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Ronnie Macroni @Twarikh e Khalsa Do reliable sources use the word "siege" or "battle"? We as WP editors cannot determine what name to use, we just follow the sources. ThethPunjabi (talk) 00:03, 19 March 2023 (UTC)Reply
a siege is when an army surrounds or attacks a town, fort,or city that is garrisoned by an army. This can't be considered a siege because the Afghans only got into a clash with 30 Sikhs which most likely didn't last for a long time. The Afghans didn't utilize any siege equipment or artillery in order to enter the city and were able to enter Amritsar without having to lay a siege onto the town.
