• The fact that this episode is Groening's favorite is mentioned three times in the article. Try to reduce that to two.
• Is the Cultural references section really necessary? It seems that it's just filled with a lot of trivia and unencyclopedic info. --Edge3 (talk) 04:04, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Okay removed one of the mentions of his favorite episode. The Cultural references section is something of a standard in The Simpsons articles; it's in every The Simpsons FA and GA article. Gary King (talk) 14:57, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Concerns

I am disappointed that the GA reviewer didn't bother to check for any sourcing issues. Here is an obvious one -

"The scene is also referenced in the season fourteen episode "Treehouse of Horror XIII", in which a large number of Homer's clones created in the episode fall down the gorge.[7]"

This is cited to an episode. The episode does not say "this is a reference". This is original research.

"In particular, the scene of Homer plummeting down Springfield Gorge has become one of the most used The Simpsons clips. In the scene, Homer falls down the cliff on the skateboard, bouncing off the cliff walls and finally landing at the bottom, where the skateboard lands on his head. After being loaded into an ambulance at the top of the cliff, the ambulance crashes into a tree, and the gurney rolls out, causing Homer to fall dawn the cliff again. In the season thirteen episode "The Blunder Years", when the family is trying to find out why Homer cannot stop screaming after he is hypnotized, Homer flashes back to his greatest moment: jumping the Springfield Gorge, only to be interrupted by Lisa saying "Everyone's sick of that memory," referring to the fact that the scene has been referenced so many times.[5] "

Is cited to an episode. This is clearly original research. Such phrases as "one of the most used" cannot be determined from an episode. The "referring to the fact" is clearly original research.

""Bart the Daredevil" was once again referenced in The Simpsons Movie when Bart and Homer jump over Springfield Gorge on a motorcycle, and when they land on the other side, the ambulance from this episode can be seen in the background (still smashed against the tree).[8]"

This is cited to this interview. The words "Bart the Daredevil" is not mentioned. The word "motorcycle" is not mentioned. What is actually said is:

Q: So there’s allusions for hard core fans in this film? I’m thinking of the ambulance at the end.

DAVID SILVERMAN: Oh great, great.

Q: I know that’s one of your favourite scenes when Homer falls down.

MATT GROENING: Yes, definitely Homer going over the Springfield gorge back in one of the very, very early episodes is probably -- I think at that moment – what was that? 1990?

DAVID SILVERMAN: ‘90 or ‘91.

MATT GROENING: That was one of our favorite scenes and definitely we pay tribute to that in the movie.

The added details to the above is enough to make original research. The fact that so many of the citations come from the DVDs themselves, which are primary source, is suspicious. Has anyone ever checked to see how the commentaries match up?

Then there are things like this:

"Knievel's nationally televised motorcycle jumps, including his 1974 attempt to jump Snake River Canyon at Twin Falls, Idaho, represent four of the twenty most-watched ABC's Wide World of Sports events. His achievements and failures, including his record 37 broken bones, earned him several entries in the Guinness Book of World Records.[2]"

Clearly off topic. It seems to be added in there because without it, it would be almost impossible to claim that the episode was notable enough to warrant its own article based on GNG. I am disappointed by the Good Article review that failed to even demonstrate a clear ready of the article and paying attention to sources. Grammar is only 1 of many concerns at GA, and sourcing issues have an equal concern. This shouldn't have passed with such improper aspects as shown above.
