The article on Lord Moynihan is all about the battle for his title whch was fascinating but said nothing about the man.

His Lordship was a larger than life character, many would say a scoundrel. He spent much of the last 30 years of his life in South East Asia, Malaysia and the Philippines in particular, engaged in dubious businesses such as massage parlours to fund his lifestyle. His Dawn of Life parlour in Manila was well known across the region to expats. He was a gourmet and reported wittily on restaurants to papers in the Philippines in his latter years.

There were rumours of his involvement in other even less salubrious areas, such as drugs, and to avoid a prison sentence turned states evidence and helped convict Howard Marks * in a sting operation in 1988 in Mallorca. His activities were such that he was the first and only proposed member of the Manila Club*** - a British expatriate club in Manila founded around 1832 -to be blackballed on the advice of the British Ambassador to the Philippines who said all Embassy staff would have to resign if his Lordship was granted membership.

An expansion of his exploits is contained in the attached.**¬¬¬¬
