Descendance

Co-heirs

Surely the co-heirs to this barony are the same as to the title Baron Bourchier (whose last holder was the 12th Baron Ferrers of Chartley)? If other descendants claimed the title in the nineteenth century this would merit a mention in the article, but as the claim has been denied they can't be described as the heirs to the barony. Numbering of Barons

Complete Peerage places the death of John de Ferrers, 1st Baron Ferrers of Chartley, "probably in Aug. 1312", and ODNB, as cited in his Wikipedia article, also places his death in that year. He was then succeeded by his elder son, John de Ferrers, who was living in 1321 but dead by 1324, when his heir was his brother Robert. This contrasts with what is described on this page, that the 1st Baron lived to 1325, with Robert succeeding him directly. While seemingly of little consequence, this means that the younger John, and not Robert, was the 2nd Baron Ferrers, and the numbering of all subsequent Barons Ferrers changes. Before making such a dramatic change, is anyone aware of other sourcing that might supersede CP and ODNB? Agricolae (talk) 16:12, 25 August 2020 (UTC)

This has been confirmed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Royalty and Nobility/Archive 9#Barons Ferrers of Chartley - ODNB also has John, 1st Baron, succeeded by John, not Robert, so all of the subsequent barons will have to be renumbered. Agricolae (talk) 17:15, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
