Relationship to Lake Bangweulu page edit

What was the reason for splitting this page off from Lake Bangweulu? Lake and swamps are one system, and you can only treat the swamps comprehensively together with the lake. This page seems to exist just to hold information about the wildlife of the southern floodplain (note that it doesn't include the crocodiles and hippos of the swamp proper) and the Shoebill, with an underlying plea for conservation ("wetlands" being a conservation term which you don't hear 'on the ground' in Zambia). With the demise of Isangano National Park, the pressure of the Samfya-Serenje road and migration of ex-miners from the Copperbelt, I'm sure this is a serious problem, but this page doesn't really seem to have the purpose its title suggests. (Incidentally what is meant by the 'Bangweulu Swamps wetlands reserve'? Isangano NP?). Perhaps the page should be titled "Conservation in the Bangweulu Wetlands"?Rexparry sydney 23:54, 30 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

I decide to change to "Bangweulu Welands ecosystem" and add conservation issues.Rexparry sydney 03:39, 31 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Draft article and page move edit

  Resolved

On behalf of African Parks via the Wyss Foundation, and as part of my work at Beutler Ink, I am submitting an expanded and updated draft of this article for community review. You can view my proposed draft here.

The aim of my draft is to improve upon the current article, which is very poorly sourced: reference #1 is not an accessible URL; reference #2 links to the Kasanka Trust's main homepage; reference #3 returns a "Not Found"/"404 Not Found error"; reference #4 directs readers to a Zambia Tourism page dedicated to Luambe National Park; and reference #5 is a nonfunctioning African Conservation Foundation page.

I've worked to create an accurate, neutral, and well sourced overview, including its wildlife and history, similar to articles for other parks and protected areas. African Parks has provided feedback to ensure accuracy. I'm looking for a volunteer editor who is willing to review the draft and copy over content appropriately to the live article. I hope anyone reviewing will conclude that the proposed draft is a major improvement over the existing article.

As well, I propose moving this page to Bangweulu Wetlands, which is the official name of the protected area, and to make the article more consistent with similar encyclopedia entries.

@Chetsford: You were very helpful with the Liuwa Plain and Zakouma articles, and I wanted to bring this one to your attention as well, if you're interested.

As a reminder, this edit request is part of a series to create and expand several Wikipedia articles related to African Parks. You can learn more here: User:Inkian Jason/African Parks. Thank you. Inkian Jason (talk) 20:50, 2 April 2018 (UTC)Reply

Done I have instituted both of these changes for the following reasons: (a) the proposed revision was superior in every way to the original version, (b) the original version had not had any significant edits in more than a year and there was no active discussion on the Talk page, indicating such a substantial change would not be disruptive, (c) the move of the page seemed logical. The proposed revision did initiate a predatory journal warning, however, I checked each of the references and could not identify it so I suspect it may be a false positive. @Chetsford: Thank you so much for your help, once again. Inkian Jason (talk) 02:23, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
@Chetsford: I assume you're fine with me removing Bangweulu from Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon/Core stubs - Zambia? Also, should I submit requests to update the Wikipedia articles linking to "Bangweulu Wetlands ecosystem", or should the redirects be left alone? Inkian Jason (talk) 02:26, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Sure, I don't have any issues with that. Do you need to submit requests to modify those articles or can you just do it yourself? That seems like housekeeping to me, though I don't mind inquiring at the COI noticeboard if you'd like the extra assurance? Chetsford (talk) 02:32, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Actually, nevermind, I see it's just a few articles. I don't mind going through and updating them. Chetsford (talk) 02:33, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
Thank you, again. I went ahead and removed the stub from this page. Much appreciated, Inkian Jason (talk) 02:35, 3 April 2018 (UTC)Reply
