Notability

Please state how this article meets wp:music criteria. MSGJ (talk) 23:01, 18 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello, according to the notability guidelines the following criterion constitutes notability and I describe here how it is met:

1. It has been the subject of multiple non-trivial published works whose source is independent from the musician/ensemble itself and reliable.[1]

This is met by the two interviews posted under the external links and references parts of the article (at the bottom). Creative Loafing is an extremely popular newspaper that is distributed in many major cities including Atlanta and Chicago that covers alternative culture, music, and art. Please refer to its website, www.creativeloafing.com. Secondly, AlternativeAddiction is a popular group of websites and internet radio stations which covers alternative culture. As mentioned both of these media have featured the band described in the article.

9. Has won or placed in a major music competition. Additionally, Bain Mattox won the Open Mic Madness competition in 2002, Atlanta Music Guide Music Awards Best Front Person (2005), and has been awarded several notable titles by Creative Loafing. http://www.atlantamusicguide.com/amg/atlanta_music_guide_music_awards http://www.bandbreakthru.com/bainmattox/view_article.php?id=24

Furthermore he has won 3 awards in Flagpole Athens Music Awards in 2004, and while this may not be a 'major music competition', Athens, GA is a city whose music scene has produced the likes of R.E.M. and Of Montreal, and being successful in such a city is no easy task. 128.61.63.139 (talk) 23:32, 18 January 2008 (UTC)gth790rReply

Just put up 3 reference links in article 128.61.63.139 (talk) 21:02, 18 January 2008 (UTC) gth790rReply

Since there are references now in the article, can the 'lacking references' category be removed? Thanks. 128.61.63.139 (talk) 23:40, 18 January 2008 (UTC)gth790rReply

It has references but I'm not sure they qualify as reliable sources. MySpace, in particular, does not qualify. I changed the tag. Sbowers3 (talk) 02:26, 23 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

MySpace may not be.. but I believe Creative Loafing definitely is. It's a major publication in several big US cities. Gth790r (talk) 04:27, 24 January 2008 (UTC) gth790rReply
