Self governing autonomous state
The article states Kashmir as a "nominally self-governing state", which is not true. From a neutral point of view, Azad Kashmir is an autonomous state within the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The people of Azad Kashmir do not elect members to the Parliament of Pakistan, instead they elect their own parliament, which elects a Prime Minister and President of the state. Pakistan only controls defense and foreign affairs. I suggest an edit to include this important info, rather than a statement as vague as "nominally self-governing". Thanks!

- Oppose : POK is not the WP:COMMONNAME. The term is mostly used in India, on a geo-political context. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:36, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose. The Wikiprojects India and Pakistan consensus of August-September 2019 (Please see the archives of WT:INDIA) considers all first order regions of the Kashmir region to be disputed, the Indian-administered, the Pakistani-administered, and the Chinese administered. It laid out the language of the lead sentence of each subregion and the info box syntax. The Pakistani-administered regions were: Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan. The consensus had the support of a large number of editors, including over half a dozen administrators. This region was “Azad Kashmir.” Fowler&fowler«Talk» 09:55, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose: As per Q1 in the FAQ above - we do not refer to Jammu and Kashmir as "Indian occupied Kashmir" or "IOK" - Arjayay (talk) 11:06, 4 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:23, 4 July 2023 (UTC)

- Oppose: I think it is a common way of describing the parts of Jammu and Kashmir occupied by Pakistan. The term is not synonymous with "Azad Kashmir". "Pakistan occupied Kashmir" includes Gilgit. "Azad Kashmir" does not. The term is also not NPOV; "Indian occupied Kashmir" also fails the NPOV test.-- Toddy1 (talk) 10:55, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- Oppose and SNOW close - there is really nothing in the nomination that brings up any novel argument why the long-established consensus should be changed. --Soman (talk) 11:41, 6 July 2023 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose. Even if we look past the biased Indian terminology, "Pakistani Occupied Kashmir", does not merely refer to Azad Kashmir. 148.252.132.228 (talk) 10:03, 7 July 2023 (UTC)

Please remove this phrase:
Azad Kashmir's financial matters, i.e., budget and tax affairs, are dealt with
and replace it with this:
Azad Kashmir's budget and tax affairs are dealt with
All of these are common terms; no need to explain what "financial matters" are. 123.51.107.94 (talk) 00:27, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

- Wikipedia:Neutral point of view says that
All encyclopedic content on Wikipedia must be written from a neutral point of view (NPOV), which means representing fairly, proportionately, and, as far as possible, without editorial bias, all the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic. ... This policy is non-negotiable, and the principles upon which it is based cannot be superseded by other policies or guidelines, nor by editor consensus.
I think that the edit you propose would contravene this policy. Sorry. See Talk:Azad Kashmir#Requested move 4 July 2023
(And, yes, I call it Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, but what you and I call it does not matter. We both choose to think of it in a non-neutral way. But we are not free to impose our shared point of view on Wikipedia.)-- Toddy1 (talk) 10:45, 9 February 2024 (UTC)
Major difference of approach in writing
In the Arunachal Pradesh article a very specific line: "Arunachal Pradesh is claimed by China as part of the Tibet Autonomous Region"— is written in the header. Such a line shall also reasonably be written in this article's header due to similar nature of the circumstances behind the matter concerning this article but is not written. I think this needs to be looked at.

Flag
why isnt the state flag of Azad Kashmir in the infobox? the Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic Pages have the flags of the republics and Balochistan, Pakistan and Sindh also have their flags in their infoboxes. It therefore makes sense to include the flag from whatever POV you have. ManU9827 (talk) 20:52, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- It is a consensus decision of WikiProjects India and Pakistan that we should avoid all symbols of sovereignty for all of Kashmir, which remains disputed. -- Kautilya3 (talk) 01:54, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- why does Jammu and Kashmir (union territory) have its seal and motto in the infobox then? ManU9827 (talk) 05:51, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- It has been removed now as it was added by a user beginning of this month and it didn't get checked. Imranqazi90 (talk) 06:17, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
