He was married twice, to the actress and dancer Kirsten Jessen (1953-1961) and the actress Hanne Borchsenius (1978-2005). He lived together with actress Lone Hertz (1962-1975), and she is the mother of his two children. The source for that is the biography, but I do not have a copy, so I cannot source it.
