What is the source for the article? Who designates urban routes - NZTA or local authorities? Nurg (talk) 23:35, 2 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

When I first saw this article I was trying to find the information myself but haven't yet been successful. I believe they are local roads - I don't know how accurate the information is regarding proposed urban routes. Possibly WP:OR Ajf773 (talk) 03:14, 3 July 2016 (UTC)Reply
I have also not found anything about it. It's either mythical, or goes by some other official designation. I don't live in Auckland though, so maybe an Aucklander could help us out. — Jon (talk) 22:03, 8 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
Someone has gone to the bother of creating the Wikidata name formatter and white shield template image for it, which cites Waka Kotahi's Manual Of Traffic Signs And Markings (MOTSAM) as a source. MOTSAM was replaced in 2024 by the new Traffic Control Devices Manual (TCDM), which now includes online specifications, including this one for urban route signs. Looks like there's some more template tinkering to set up though, because while we can do this with state highways using "SH" we can't yet use "UR" for urban route and say: {{jct|country=NZL|UR|31|name1=Hibiscus Coast Highway}} to produce something like:
  Route 31 (Hibiscus Coast Highway)
(with 31 in the shield image); currently we get a Lua error in Module:Jct instead (line 204: nil value for link in fn routeText).

Fixed now:   Route 31 (Hibiscus Coast Highway)
Have left a bot request to generate all the images on Commons — Jon (talk) 10:32, 9 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
