Tone
editA fair bit of the wording/tone seems more humourous or whimsical rather than neutral and encyclopedic.RafikiSykes (talk) 17:01, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
Which is precisely what makes this article so readable. Let's keep it that way. Much of Wikipaedia is dull enough as it is.87.240.208.210 (talk) 09:02, 30 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hear, hear. And quite in keeping with Waugh’s elegant contrariness.
'Contents' panel
editWhy is the Contents-panel displayed on the right of the lede? It would normally be directly below it, leading on to the main article. Valetude (talk) 17:53, 14 January 2014 (UTC)

Pronunciation (1st name)
editIf it's ˈɔːbərən, not ˈɔːbərɒn, where did his nickname "Bron" originate? Perhaps ˈɔːbərən is the common variant, and ˈɔːbərɒn – his own spelling pronunciation? 2A02:A310:8241:8280:7C47:F952:56A2:1E3B (talk) 19:43, 10 April 2020 (UTC)
Rustication ?
editWhy ? What did or didn’t he do ? He tried hard enough to live up to his father’s reputation for contrariness and pugnacity. Did Bron do a Paul Pennyfeather and bolt trouserless through Tom Quad ?
No mention of his running away from school here, and being found on the run with a bottle of Scotch or some such in his baggage.
Auberon was a fairly conventional rebel, with a schoolboy urge to shock and a neglected child’s craving for attention. I found his writings suitable only for an undergraduate mag or college ‘smoker’, and his opinions often merely absurd.
Waugh senior was an indifferent parent. Quite enough evidence in his diaries and letters to allow that conclusion. Bron pursued a life of angry defiance and covert retribution as a result. 101.174.103.205 (talk) 01:34, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
Platoon Sergeant?
editThe article mentions his 'Platoon Sergeant' providing first aid; presumably in a cavalry regiment this would be a Troop Sergeant?
I would suggest this is changed unless there is a specific reason from his account or regimental custom to keep it as it is. BH530481 (talk) 10:35, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
