@Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez: There is no need for including "(Switzerland)" as a parenthetical disambiguator in the title as Wikipedia currently does not have an article about an Anti-Money Laundering Act, Swiss or otherwise. Google provides a machine translation of the French title of Loi sur le blanchiment d'argent into the English Money Laundering Act, so I wonder how the "Anti-" prefix was added to the title. Is this imposing an anglo-centric point of view on the title of a translated article based on what the law would be called in an English-speaking Westminster style parliament? The word "Act" is also an abbreviation for the expression "an act of parliament (or similar legislative body)". Not being familiar with Swiss law-making, I wonder if the term is even applicable to Swiss law. There are several criteria concerning titles, one of which is about being concise and another is about being precise. If one translates the French title in parts "Loi sur le" translates to English as "Law on" while "blanchiment d'argent" translates as "money laundering", so a title like "Swiss law on money laundering" would seem to me to be a more natural and recognizable title. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 00:29, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
Good morning! Thank you very much for your observations. In regards to the name being "Anti-Money Laundering Act" this is just the official translation found in "Fedlex" which is the official webpage for swiss law (https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/1998/892_892_892/fr) This page offers the compilation of different swiss laws as well as their official translations in German, French, Italian and English. By adding both "Anti-" as a prefix and "Act" all that was done was merely following the official EN title for this particular law in order to make the article as close as possible to the original legal source. Thanks again for your point of view and recommendations! Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez (talk) 13:08, 21 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Carlos Eduardo Wester Pérez: Thanks for the link to the "Fedlex" website. I note that the (unofficial) English version translates the official title as "Federal Act on Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing", while a shorter or informal translation of the French short tile appears in parentheses as "Anti-Money Laundering Act, AMLA". As I initially observed, Wikipedia currently does not have another article about an Anti-Money Laundering Act, so I fail to understand the need to disambiguate this article by adding "(Switzerland)" to the title because there is no other article with the exact same name. I could understand if you were concerned about another article having the same name, but the nearest existing article I can find with a similar name is the Malaysian Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. Other examples of anti-money laundering legislation include Australia's Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006, the Bangladeshi Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2002 as well as further Acts of the same name in 2009 and 2012, while Nigeria appears to use Money Laundering Act for its 2011 legislation. All these titles distinguish legislation by naturally disambiguating based on the date the legislation is passed, not by country. In the case of Switzerland's legislation the year is 1997, so a title of Anti-Money Laundering Act 1997 would be consistent with the titles of other articles about legislation, although probably unnecessary in this case. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 08:37, 22 August 2023 (UTC)Reply
