Importance of completeness

It is of note that the American Osteopathic Association and the American Board of Osteopathic Specialties and the United States Government recognizes Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine as a specialty while the American Board of Medical Specialties does not. Similarly, the American Board of Physician Specialties and the United States Governement recognizes Disaster Medicine as a specialty while the American Board of Medical Specialties does not. This means that there are 26 recognized medical specialties in the United States. I believe that it is important to include:

"24 of 26 recognized specialties"

to acknowledge that ABMS is not an all inclusive source of certification or the sole authority in the United States. I defer to the group to decide if the change is to be retained to include this acknowledgement. Renaissancedoc (talk) 01:29, 14 December 2007 (UTC)

Spelling?

Is there a uniform or accepted way of writing Board Certification as a compound adjective? I mostly see it spelled as "Board Certified physician" but shouldn't it read "board-certified physician" as a hyphenated adjective? Cheers, Mabuse 21:30, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

Monopoly/Antitrust Issues

reverted edits

I reverted some recent edits which claimed there is no evidence that board certified physicians lead to better outcomes, but a simple search revealed several papers which study this claim. In general though this article needs a lot more references. --KarlB (talk) 20:12, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
