Is DPJ a member of Alliance of Democrats?

Mr. Amagase, is there any official party decision on the membership of DPJ in Alliance of Democrats? As far as I know, no official information on this issue is found in the DPJ website. The link you mentioned (http://www.allianceofdemocrats.org/cms/view.php?dir_pk=8&cms_pk=34) only shows that Mr. Naoto Kan "joined" the meeting (meaning that he took part in the meeting). Furthermore, according to the CALD website, DPJ is not a member of CALD (http://www.cald.org/website/memberparties.htm). Could you please show me your source for the revision you made? Socialist international?

There don't seen to be any sources indicating that Howard Dean favors the Democrats joining Socialist International, it seem unlikely since the democrats are not a socialist party. No-one states it. Simply Dean is very close and enthisiastic about the Socialist International. At the congress of the Democrats of the Left, an Italian left-wing party, Dean spoke about the necessity of a strong alliance between US Democrats and the Party of European Socialists. Well since then, things have moved in the opposite direction: the Democrats of the Left have dissolved themselves into a new centrist Italian Democratic Party, which is no longer specifically socialist. The socialist group in the European Parliament has had to be renamed "Socialists and Democrats" to accommodate the Italians. 86.163.210.187 (talk) 21:02, 9 August 2010 (UTC)

Opposite direction? Dean spoke precisely at the congress during which the DS dissolved themselves into the PD. Named after the US Democratic Party, the Italian PD is significantly social-democratic and not centrist at all. --Checco (talk) 15:43, 10 August 2010 (UTC)

Observer members and Kadima

The Alliance of Democrats website lists members, not observers. Also this article suggests that Kadima was once a member of the International Democrat Union. I have never heard of this, but I emailed the IDU and asked about it. The response I got: "Kadima is not, and has not been, a member of the International Democrat Union."

Democratic Party of Serbia

The Democratic Party of Serbia is non member of the IDU, but is member of the Socialist International.

The Indian Congress Party do not belong to any International

The Democratic Party (Serbia) is member of the Socialist International, while the Democratic Party of Serbia that is linked in the Alliance's website is a national-conservative party adherent to the International Democrat Union. The Indian National Congress has been a member of the Socialist International. Thus, no mistakes in the article! --Checco (talk) 10:04, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Unsourced table

Hello all,

I just noticed that the entire "Members" section is unsourced. We need to find third-party sources that provide a list of member parties in AoD.

Deletion of Table

The following was the result of a discussion concerning the verifiability of organizations with lists or tables of members:

Resolved: Lists or tables of members belonging to a political international or other organization that are unsourced or sourced by self-published sources must be deleted. When an organization claims it has members it is self-serving, and therefore must be deleted under WP:V. Please note that this applies to all organizations with members, including all other political internationals.

Thus, per WP:V, the table of members on this page must be deleted, and remain deleted, until the table can be properly sourced by independent sources.

The Alliance of Democrats was a loose partnership of parties throughout the world
