November 2011 edit

Hwy43 1) I grew up in Allerston. 2) Jacob Allers was my Great Grandfather 3) Citation Sandstone to Settlers About 1980 4) Citation. Milk River Country. About 1959 This is more accurate than your info. WrayT (talk) 11:37, 26 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Note that none of "my" info is in this article. I did not start or write this article. Hero122 did. All I've contributed is minor fixes to this article. [1][2][3][4] If you dispute the info Hero122 has provided, you can contact Hero122 here, or perhaps Hero122 will chime in.

Your contributions were reverted as the were unreferenced. To resolve, you need to cite reliable sources for your contributions. This helps maintain Wikipedia's policy of verifiability. It appears from your message above that you are attempting to cite two books. See Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to properly cite sources.

Also as you grew up on Allerston and are related to Jacob Allers, some of your contributions may be original research and your personal accounts are primary sources. Wikipedia's policy on primary sources states, "Do not add unsourced material from your personal experience, because that would make Wikipedia a primary source of that material." Maybe Hero122 Should read the 2 History books on this area. Noted above. Also many of the family histories mention Jacob Allers as the person thaat brought them to thee area. Who would know about an area than the people that grew up in the area. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WrayT (talkcontribs) 02:20, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

So crediting a reliable resouce. Not my own research. Hmm that is kind of funny. Where did the person or book you are crediting come from? There own research.

So my research is more acurate than any book out there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WrayT (talkcontribs) 02:26, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Wikipedia for letting someone keep the wrong history of a place in Alberta.

Every link I clicked on for a ref always came back to this page.

As for the writer of the name place. He going on false information that was published in a book many years ago. That everyone takes as a reliable resource. It not very reliable.

So the whole history of this area and surrounding places could also be incorrect. Incorrect in 1 place incorrect in all.

So to protect the family name. The name of Allerston was never known as Doran. Doran was a post master. The person may be confussed as to the name just because of a Post master

http://www.geodata.us/canada_names_maps/maps.php?featureid=IABGJ&f=254 Shows Allerston Alberta.

Neither close to Allerston. — Preceding unsigned comment added by WrayT (talkcontribs) 09:00, 27 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

WrayT, with this edit here, you provided exactly what was needed to support your contributions – a reliable, verifiable source. Good job!

The presentation of your source within the article is unconventional, so I converted it to an WP:Inline citation by placing...

"<ref name=MRC>{{cite web | url=http://www.ourfutureourpast.ca/loc_hist/page.aspx?id=3525761 | title=Milk River Country | author=Alice A. Campbell | publisher=Milk River Old Timers Association | year=1959 | page=307 | accessdate=2011-11-27}}</ref>"
after "Allerston, formerly Allersville," within the article.

For future contributions, see Wikipedia:Citing sources for how to cite sources. Hwy43 (talk) 06:21, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

By the way, I am unable to view the last link you provided above (the one showing two places in Alberta named Doran). iGoogle says I need to sign in to see it. Hwy43 (talk) 06:25, 28 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

Education section edit

I've placed two tags at the start of the Education section.

The first is to add supporting citations for all paragraphs within the section, excluding the second paragraph that already has a citation. It is unknown if the citation at the end of the second paragraph also applies to all paragraphs that follow it.

The second is to cleanup the section.

  • As this article is about Allerston (formerly Allersville), all the information about surrounding school districts (i.e., their locations, when they opened and closed, etc.) may not be relevant to this article. Consider trimming to only information on Allersville School District No. 2202 and what became of it.
  • Also, if the second paragraph is the wording directly from the book, From Sandstone to Settlers, please revise it as it may be copyright infringement. As the book is not available for viewing over the web, I cannot confirm if it is a copyright violation or not. See Wikipedia:Copyrights for Wikipedia's policy on copyrights.

In the meantime, I've already fixed some spelling, grammar, and typographical errors within this section, and attempted to complete some sentences. Hopefully I completed them properly so that it reads as originally intended. If no, please revise accordingly. Hwy43 (talk) 06:03, 29 November 2011 (UTC)Reply
