Cofounder

edit

"Co-founder of.. AT&T".. IS ABSOLUTELY INCORRECT!' Do your research, people!! At&T didn't even exist until I was a teenager!!! He invented a telephone, period. The telephone company-- the ONLY telephone company, was name Bell Telephone after him. Each State had their own 'Bell' company in MY lifetime: Ohio Bell, Montana Bell, etc. "AT&T" was the result of a merger of all the Bell telephone companies, and more. REMOVE THE "He co-founded AT&T" section which is listed on the right side of this entry!!! He was not even alive for "AT&T". 98.123.126.45 (talk) 01:39, 7 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

I've corrected this to be the Bell Telephone Company --Escape Orbit (Talk) 10:36, 7 June 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure what "research" you're referring to. "In 1885, the American Telephone and Telegraph Co. was incorporated by American Bell. This is where we first see the “AT&T” name come into play."

"The Bell Telephone Company underwent a series of reorganizations and renamings between 1878 and 1900. In 1881 Bell bought Western Electric; this leading maker of telegraphic equipment thenceforth became the dominant manufacturer of telephone equipment as well. Another important unit, the Mechanical Department, formed in 1883, became the Bell Telephone Laboratories, incorporated as a separate company in 1925. In 1885 Bell established the American Telephone and Telegraph Company, or AT&T, as its subsidiary responsible for building long-distance telephone lines. In 1899 AT&T was made the parent company of the Bell System."

An edit to the article. I have the original letter from Alexander Graham Bell, dated at Washington March 28th, 1916, and addressed to T.H. Preston, Esq. The letter is in reference to the invention of the Bell Telephone over the years 1874 - 1876 between Brantford, Ontario and Boston, Mass.

In this primary resource A.G. Bell refers to Brantford as his "thinking place", not his "dreaming place," which is stated in the Wikipedia article. LauraCaroline24 (talk) 20:17, 26 June 2024 (UTC)Reply
