I had previously reverted Little Joe Shots edits to make some edits for formatting, tone, etc. He later left a message on my talk page regarding this issue on my talk page. MadMax 21:55, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I just read his message, or rather tried to understand what he is trying to say. You should not be intimidated by this guy. He does that all the time if someone points out his mistakes. He may have a point about mistakes in the previous versions, but that does not mean you can replace that with other mistakes. To name a few:

• Afghanistan was not a major opium producer in those days.
• The Unione Corse did not exist, the Corsican gangs in Marseille never reached a unity, they were fighting each other all the time.
• The Agueci's and Papalia never ran "a branch of the famous French Connection heroin ring". There was no French Connection heroin ring, but there were several different sometimes intertwining heroin trafficking organisations. Those were supplied with heroin by different labs of different gangs in Marseille. In fact, it was a very disorganized industry.
• The Corsican gangs did not sell most of their heroin to the Sicilian mafia. The Corsican gangs had their own supply lines to the U.S. where the American Cosa Nostra controlled distribution. Additionally, they also sold heroin to Sicilian mafiosi who set up their own supply lines.
• Giuseppe Settecase does not exist, the man's name is Settecasi.

I could go on for a while. Apart from the mistakes I think you should at least have the decency to correct the spelling and grammar before you upload information and not be so arrogant to leave that to other people. How do you think people will assess the reliability of Wikipedia if they read this kind of garbage?

Furthermore, this guy does not really understand the purpose of Wikipedia. This is not a forum where you can show you have the biggest ... knowledge about an issue. It is an encyclopedia where you have to write an article to inform people with some general knowledge about an issue and add something useful. Not overload them with information that is only of intererst for a very small group of researchers. If you want do something like that, you better start your own site. Wikipedia will be happy to make a link for further reading. - Mafia Expert 23:46, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

The main problem I see, prior to more recent editions, are that none of my sources even remotely covers anything close to the majority of of infomation now contained in the article. While I've used online references regarding unreferenced articles, again there seems to be way too much unverifiable information here. MadMax 00:17, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

Wrong reference

I am afraid that User:Little Joe Shots has given a wrong reference. I did a check for the following section of the article: The Aguecis and Papalia ran a branch of the famous "French Connection" herion ring which was controlled at the time by the French-Corsican Mob or Unione Corse which obtained opium base from Tukey and Afghanistan and converted it into heroin in clandestine laboratories in France and Corsica. The Unione Corse had many French and Corsican born Italians that had affiliations to some of the biggest mafia bosses in Italy and North America and sold most of their heroin to the Sicilian mafia, including Charles "Lucky" Luciano, Frank "Fingers" Coppola, Nicola "Cola" Gentile, Salvatore Greco, Giuseppe Settecase, Salvatore and Angelo La Barbera and Luciano Leggio.

The reference given is Humphreys, p. 106-108 (Humphreys, Adrian. The Enforcer:Johnny Pops Papalia, A Life and Death in the Mafia. Toronto, Canada: Harper Collins, 1999. ISBN 0-00-200016-4). I cannot find anything remotely referring to the above section. Frank Coppola, Nicola Gentile, Salvatore Greco, Giuseppe Settecase, Salvatore and Angelo La Barbera and Luciano Leggio are not even mentioned in the Index of the book. - Mafia Expert 18:01, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Removed unverifiable information

This article was tagged since April 2007. Nobody has improved it ever since while the above comments make clear that the information in unreliable. Time to recreate the article from the beginning. - DonCalo (talk) 13:12, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Question about potential source

I have found a lengthy source online that I am not sure meets Wikipedia's guidelines for an acceptable source.
