So basically it's going to be really important not to sit down and ask your hairdresser to spot you some cash ("Yo, gimme an afro") Sarsaparilla (talk) 16:46, 16 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

They should call it the african dollar instead. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Travisvanvelzen (talkcontribs) 18:44, 26 August 2020 (UTC)Reply

Move Article edit

Where is reliable information that shows that the planned single African currency is going to be called "Afro"? The Abuja Treaty says nothing about the name of the currency.

I suggest this article to be moved to Single African Currency or African Monetary Union. That's how the Abuja Treaty refers to it. --filip (talk) 13:00, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

I concur - the BBC News website mentions the topic a couple of times without use of the term 'Afro'. --Neo (talk) 14:32, 1 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Three references have been added to the claim. The first two actually quote Wikipedia, thus not useful. The third one is an opinion piece calling for an "afro currency" in quotation marks - that doesn't exactly establish notability. This is really becoming an instance of Wikiality - the whole thing is spreading to other language versions of Wikipedia and to external sites as well, which are then used as references to back up the article. Absurd. This article should really be deleted or moved. --filip (talk) 00:29, 31 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Also, it would be nice to have some sources on cape verde and the seychelles trying to join the euro???? That seems pretty far out! El Puello Diablo (talk) 12:38, 27 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Cape Verde isn't so far out - the currency is already index linked to the Euro (by virtue of a former relationship with the Escudo), and it apparently has considered it. I can't find a reliable English lanugage source, but this non-reliable source links to Portuguese language sources: EuroBillTracker:Cape Verde to join the euro? --Neil (talk) 14:25, 27 October 2008 (UTC)Reply
