I have removed the reference to a bronze version of this medal. None of the main reference works refer to a bronze version, and I can not trace an actual example. Additionally, General Sir Frederick Roberts in his book Forty-one Years in India states (page 533) that bronze campaign medals were only introduced after he became Commander in Chief in India in 1888: "…we were able to do a great deal towards ... improving the status and prospects of the Native soldier [including] … bronze war medals were sanctioned for all authorized Government followers …"[1]
