File:Greenland ice cap.png Nominated for speedy Deletion

edit

An image used in this article, File:Greenland ice cap.png, has been nominated for speedy deletion for the following reason: All Wikipedia files with unknown copyright status

What should I do?

Don't panic; you should have time to contest the deletion (although please review deletion guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to provide a fair use rationale
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale, then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Deletion Review

An image used in this article, File:Green land 2009.jpg, has been nominated for speedy deletion at Wikimedia Commons for the following reason: Copyright violations
What should I do?

Don't panic; deletions can take a little longer at Commons than they do on Wikipedia. This gives you an opportunity to contest the deletion (although please review Commons guidelines before doing so). The best way to contest this form of deletion is by posting on the image talk page.

  • If the image is non-free then you may need to upload it to Wikipedia (Commons does not allow fair use)
  • If the image isn't freely licensed and there is no fair use rationale then it cannot be uploaded or used.
  • If the image has already been deleted you may want to try Commons Undeletion Request

Removal of maintenance templates by sock puppets of RowenaFernandes; article's lack of neutrality

edit

The originator of this article was User:RowenaFernandes. It appears that this article was created as an advertising tool for Adrian Hayes. The sole provider of all the information here is the same "RowenaFernandes" and his/her sock puppets -- 120.28.64.76, 112.203.124.109, variants of 180.191.x.x, and more recently "Litolividomaliwat". All suspected sock puppets for RowenaFernandes that consist of anonymous IP's geolocate to the Phillipines.

A couple of maintenance templates relating to the lack of proper sourcing for this article are being constantly removed by one of the sock puppets mentioned above. Lately, the newest sock puppet, User:Litolividomaliwat, has again removed a template for "refimprove", without addressing the issue contained in the template. If this user continues this blatant disregard for Wikipedia rules, and continues to use sock puppets to circumvent Wikipedia rules, it may be necessary to open a sockpuppet investigation, which could lead to blocking of this user and his/her sockpuppets from further editing here at WIkipedia.

The original violation of "bare URLs" was only minimally corrected by the addition of titles to the references, but these citations are still missing a date, name of publication, date of retrieval, etc., which should be the minimum information contained in a citation. I ignored the removal of the "bare URLs" template because it was not as critical as the other one. However, this article still contains a quotation in the "Sustainability" section that requires a citation. Quotes are not permitted without giving the reference. This is for the protection of the person who is the subject of the biography. The entire "Biography" section is also unreferenced. Therefore, this article still needs the "refimprove" template, and it must remain until the issues are resolved.

Furthermore, the entire article for "Adrian Hayes (adventurer)" is at risk of being deleted because it is biased in favor of the subject, purely for advertising. This is considered a form of SPAM, and is covered here: WP:ARTSPAM. This article appears to be derived from the subject's own promotional materials, and may have been simply copied verbatim from such sources, often without attribution. The neutrality of the style of writing in this article is also in question. This article has therefore been also tagged for lack of neutrality. --Skol fir (talk) 19:20, 14 March 2012 (UTC)Reply

Promotional and possible CoI

edit

I've copyedited the article to remove some content which sounded promotional and was unsourced. I have also removed the links to YouTube per WP:ELNO. I will post on Sonia.sherif (talk · contribs)'s Talk page to ask her to discuss here. Tacyarg (talk) 09:36, 29 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

The subject of the article is a personal brand and almost anything said about his work is bound to have promotional overtones. I suggest not being too assertive on the matter. Izzy (talk) 17:30, 29 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

  • Hayes's association with the right wing VfB group is highly relevant to a neutral biography. Please understand that this is supposed to be a neutral biography and not promotional material, Sonia. Izzy (talk) 10:20, 30 April 2019 (UTC)Reply
