Sphilbrick, did you read my objection? If so, in what way did you feel my objection that it did not meet speedy criteria was wrong? Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 14:27, 19 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Boleyn: I don't think so. I temporarily restored it so I can look at the history. I see that you suggested a merger which didn't make sense to me. I you referring to that or something else?--S Philbrick(Talk) 14:47, 19 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Sphilbrick, Mainly that the page doesn't meet speedy criteria, see Template:db-disambig:

disambiguates only one extant Wikipedia page and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.

It disambiguates two extant pages, plus a valid see also. I put no prejudice to prod or AfD, but definitely doesn't meet speedy criteria and so would need to be looked at properly. Thanks for restoring it, please remove speedy tag if you agree it doesn't meet criteria given above. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 17:58, 19 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Boleyn: This is very confusing.

I believe there's only one proper article about someone with the name "Adam Horowitz", appropriately titled Adam Horowitz.

However because there is another Adam Horowitz mentioned in another article, we need to distinguish. The other article Mondoweiss is not about Adam Horowitz, he is simply mentioned in it. That has been handled by creating the redirect Adam Horowitz (journalist), pointing it to the article in which he is mentioned, and adding it is a hat note to the primary article.

The complication arises because of the two (almost) homonyms, Adam Horovitz (of the beastie boys) and Adam Horovitz the poet. The first of these two is not titled Adam Horovitz but Ad-Rock. The second uses the parenthetical disambiguation Adam Horovitz (poet).

While the page Adam Horovitz is used as a dab page because it has five entries, we don't have parallel usage for Adam Horowitz.

We also have Adam Horovitz (disambiguation) which is simply a redirect to Adam Horovitz

My suggestion is to

  • delete Adam Horowitz (disambiguation)
  • delete Adam Horovitz (disambiguation)
  • replace the current hat note in Adam Horowitz with:

For the Mondoweiss co-editor, see Adam Horowitz (journalist). For people with a similar name, see Adam Horovitz.

  • replace the current hat note in Adam Horovitz (poet) with:

For other people named Adam Horovitz, see Adam Horovitz

  • replace the current hat note in Ad-Rock with:

For other people named Adam Horovitz, see Adam Horovitz

I think that would clean up everything and remove the articles with disambiguation in parentheses which are really redirects rather than disambiguation pages--S Philbrick(Talk) 23:22, 19 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Sphilbrick. There is only one article with this exact name, but that's not what the speedy template says - only one extant page. This disambiguates three extant pages. Your proposal looks ok, except Adam Horovitz (diambiguation) hould be kept and used in any hatnote per WP:INTDABLINK. Best wishes, Boleyn (talk) 01:55, 20 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Boleyn:I made a proposal on how to clean this up and I'm willing to do the edits if there is consensus. It sounds like you don't agree but I don't follow your proposal so please go ahead and do whatever you think is appropriate. Feel free to remove the csd template.S Philbrick(Talk) 13:53, 20 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Sphilbrick. I don't have strong feelings about what is done, essentially I think it's fine as it is but I don't object to your proposal, it maes a lot of sense too. Thanks, Boleyn (talk) 14:21, 20 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
