Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 10 January 2022 edit

Introducing discussion on the direct use of language from a questionable source: The Queer Guru source that is cited for the cast descriptions contains a number of incorrect/misinterpreted details or descriptions of the performers that can be considered offensive, and these descriptions are also reproduced word-for-word. This source's descriptions are not really accurate and misinterpret the characterizations offered in the film. Requesting an edit to resolve this and to simplify the descriptions to be more accurate, straightforward, and neutral.

For instance, K.James is not "androgynous" and to suggest that he is "confusing" the audience is transphobic. Please change "trans masculine identified drag king who uses his androgynous look to both entertain and confuse his audience" to "a trans masculine drag king" which is more straightforward and neutral, as well as accurate. [1]

It is also in poor taste to describe Divina GranSparkle as "exotic." This is not how the film presents Divina, nor is it how Divina describes herself in the film. Please change "performs exotic multi-gender characters" to "Muslim, immigrant burlesque and drag performer" which is more straightforward and neutral, as well as accurate. [2]

Pearl Harbor - "femme looking drag queen, bizarrely creative performance which includes their own poetry" is confusing, insensitive, and contains phrasing copied and pasted from the source. Please change "femme looking drag queen, bizarrely creative performance which includes their own poetry" to "a drag performer and poet" which is more straightforward, neutral, and accurate.

Nyx Nocturne - "with raunchy performances" is not a neutral description & is copied and pasted. Please change "multi-disciplinary artist with raunchy performances" to "drag and burlesque self-identified 'queerdo'" (source cited here) or simplify to "multidisciplinary drag and burlesque artist."[3]

Vigor Mortis - "who identifies as more of a boy" is copied and pasted and odd phrasing/interpretation of the film. Please change "award-winning drag king who identifies as more of a boy" to "an award-winning nonbinary drag king" or [4] 68.237.60.251 (talk) 18:11, 10 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit extended-protected}} template. It appears the page was protected due to the edit you are requesting be made. I've also removed the COI edit request template as it appears to have been added as an attempt to 'relist' the edit request and not due to a COI. SpinningCeres 20:31, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Cast descriptions edit

Crs363 has expressed concerns over the descriptions of the cast members that were in the article. I have removed them, for now. Hopefully in this section we'll be able to work out the best descriptions. Crs provided this source on my talk page, which looks to be high quality and may provide a good starting point.
