Notability

edit

I see that the AfD was withdrawn, but I question whether this book satisfies the applicable notability guidelines. The citation provided is merely a trivial mention in a Guardian blog post. And while it is referenced in other books on similar topics, I don't see that as being sufficient for independent notability. --ZimZalaBim talk 19:37, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

By showing a number of different sources you've answered your own question. No more notability shrubberies please. Catchpole (talk) 20:31, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't think mere mention in other related books qualify as sources - could be very trivial mention in passing, a bibliography, etc. --ZimZalaBim talk 22:08, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
I would also point out that the Guardian reference is not a "blog post". This column is part of the print newspaper, and has been so since way before blogs were ever thought of (or the Internet for that matter). It is subject to the same fact-checking as the rest of the newspaper, and any factual errors reported are listed in the Guardian's "corrections and clarifications" section. Right, I meant "blog post" in the sense that its just some writer's personal diary - as opposed to an article "reporting" on the subject. --ZimZalaBim talk 22:08, 10 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

The {{notability}} tag keeps getting removed with comments that this was resolved in the AfD. I disagree. The AfD was withdrawn before any consensus was achieved. And I question whether the mere existence of references to the title of this book in other texts is sufficient (were they just trivial mention?). I see little harm in bringing this article to the attention of other editors who patrol those with questionable notability. --ZimZalaBim talk 12:16, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

As the discussion is closed, I say Keep as I find it notable. rkmlai (talk) 15:56, 12 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
