This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because it is the start of an article on ACM Special Interest Groups.

Participants in SIGARCH include the President of Stanford University and many notable computer scientists. The importance meets Wikipedia standards and is part of a growing coverage in this important area. The softer suggestion to improve it is much appreciated and coincides with an important article that needs expansion. Speedy deletion is inconsistent with highly similar articles. While I believe that this group is notable and the article should be kept, your arguments here miss the point. A7 speedy deletion is not about whether the subject is important, but about whether there is a clear claim of importance for the subject stated within the article. "Sponsors many top international conferences" is such a claim, and is enough (I think) to save it; "because it is the start of an article on groups" is not, nor is "famous people belong to it" (see WP:NOTINHERITED). I think the case would be much clearer if, somewhere near the start of the article, you stated that (together with IEEE TCCA) it is one of the two main professional organizations for people working in computer architecture. —David Eppstein (talk) 07:24, 4 June 2017 (UTC)

The article should be moved/renamed to ACM SIGARCH and have a redirect for SIGARCH go to ACM SIGARCH. Although there isn't much consistency for the SIG articles.StrayBolt (talk) 17:18, 5 June 2017 (UTC)
