Internet suffix .ac

For what country dos the internet suffix .ac for? I do not refere to .ac.uk which stands for educational institutions.

.ac is Ascension Island, which I've added in. Dewet 10:34, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Massive revision

I massively revised this disambiguation page as part of my work on the Wikipedia:WikiProject Disambiguation. One thing that is widely accepted in the "professional disambiguation" community is that there should be only one wikilink per line ... much of the work was in bringing the page into alignment with this guideline.

Rather than revert, if you have concerns, please let's talk them through here. I anticipate that most two-letter abbreviations and many three-letter abbreviations will have large DAB pages that could go through similar massive changes, so I want to iron out issues here on this one before tackling any others in this class of pages.

removing Andrew Caudill

I am removing the link to Andrew Caudill from the Science section. It was added by 24.176.169.3 (talk · contribs) (diff 22:47, 10 June 2006), whose only other contribution was to make the same addition to List of people by name: Ac#People named Acker, where it was reverted. The only reference I can find to a "scientist" of that name is to a 9th grade member of the Science Olympiad Team at the Greater Atlanta Christian School, and that's hardly encyclopedic. --KGF0 ( T | C ) 09:40, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

Update!

If any of you are looking at the history for the AC page and are beyond confused...I edited the page and it was reverted because they thought I was a vandal.

What I've done:

• Fixed Typos!
• Fixed formatting error
• Created consistent headings. Every heading title but "Sport" was plural, now they with "Sports", they all are.
• moved from Miscellaneous to Organizations
  • Associación Civil, a title for non profit organizations in Spain
  • Atlantic College, one of the ten United World Colleges
• moved from Miscellaneous to Ranks
  • Member of the National Assembly for Wales
• added Assistant Cameraman to Miscellaneous
• made Music a subsection

Music is now an entertainment subsection. We have a lot of sections, and this is one that can easily be subsection. I'd like to see the page more organized in general, no two-item sections like sports, but I think that this would be a nice start.

• Changed "Ranks" heading

I changed "Ranks" to "Job Titles / Ranks". It's a slightly more accurate and less confining heading.

update!

here's a list of what I did:

• made subsections three === instead of ====
• added back
  • assistant camerman
  • Members of the National Assembly for Wales
• made schools a subsection of organizations (we only have two schools)
• move Atlantic College from organizations to schools

Question: Companion to the Order of Australia had been on this article before under Job Titles/Ranks, under the Ranks part. It somehow got deleted a while ago and was added back under Miscellaneous. I know it's an award, but is it technically a Rank or not? Does it belong under Ranks or under Miscellaneous? TStein 14:51, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

not asserted in articles

Mwtoews (talk · contribs) reverted this edit, saying (not asserted in articles). Please define "asserted in articles" in such a sense that Ace Combat, Armored Core, Asheron's Call, and Assault Cube qualify and Animal Crossing and Assassin's Creed do not. --Damian Yerrick (talk | stalk) 02:47, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

In order to assert that the name of an article is also known as something else, it needs to show it. So if you look at Asheron's Call, it has "AC" in the article lead, so I know that it is asserted. However, I don't see any references to "AC" in Animal Crossing, telling me that it isn't known as "AC", therefore it shouldn't be listed here. +mt 03:02, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

That is kinda nonsense- Asheron's Call is the ONLY one with AC in the article lead. And what does it really matter? Anyone could bleeding well add it to any of the pages. Both Animal Crossing and Assassin's Creed are referred to as AC, but cause their pages doesn't have it in the lead it's invalid? Sorry, but.. what? 145.81.36.248 (talk) 13:02, 15 May 2014 (UTC)
