Unbound delegates for Haley

edit

Following the results of the Minnesota Primary, the Minnesota GOP released a press statement regarding the status of Haley's delegates after she suspended her campaign.

"With Tuesday's results, our national delegate and alternate allocations have been solidified. Minnesota will be sending 39 delegates and 36 alternates to the Republican National Convention to Milwaukee in July. Based on the statewide vote percentages, President Trump won 27 delegates, and Ambassador Haley won 12 delegates. However, since she has suspended her campaign, those 12 delegates will be unbound and free to vote for anyone on the first ballot unless she rejoins the race and appears at the National Convention. Trump delegates will be bound to vote for the Trump on the first ballot."

Haley's 12 delegates in Minnesota have been labeled as unbound according to TGP, but other major news organizations, like the AP, keep her delegates as is.

Here are the two possible options:

a). We follow the precedent of the AP and keep Haley's delegates as is.

b). We move Haley's delegates to the unbound column and put a note explaining why they're unbound.

I know TGP tends to go more in-depth when it comes to the delegate totals, but I'd be curious to see what other editors think. Thelittlepoliticalboy (talk) 22:37, 18 March 2024 (UTC)Reply
