Talk:2022–23 Biathlon World Cup

Do we really need a huge map of Europe on an article about Biathlon? edit

Gro456 Insists on putting a huge map of Europe in its own dedicated section in this article about Biathlon. They have also done this in other articles such as the FIS World Cup, and the FIS Snowboard World Cup. One should really ask if the location of the events is so important that it should have its own dedicated section. Not only that but the first section in the article. Auguel Yes, it is important. After all, these competitions have to take place somewhere. Gro456 (talk) 17:58, 26 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

A smaller map is perfectly sufficient to show that information. Auguel (talk) 18:33, 26 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Concerning the French source edit

@Norwaystat and Sportsfan 1234: I closed the relevant WP:ANI discussion but thought it might be a good idea to comment here to initiate a talk page discusssion on the subject. Per WP:NONENG non-English sources are permitted, and while it isn't unreasonable to ask for a translation, the source verifies the information. As a French speaker, I can confirm that the source given does support that name being placed in that section.

The reference's prose begins with «L'athlète olympique de Sherbrooke Jules Burnotte a annoncé sa retraite du biathlon, lundi matin» which means "Sherbrooke's Olympic athlete Jules Burnotte announced his retirement from biathlon on Monday morning" and as for the relevance to that particular article, the last quoted paragraph begins «Je vais participer au Championnat canadien de biathlon à Valcartier à la fin de la saison simplement pour saluer mon monde et tourner la page de façon officielle.» which roughly means "I will participate in the Canadian Biathlon Championship in Valcartier at the end of the season just to salute my world and officially turn the page." I have no knowledge of this World Cup so I'm merely speaking on the matter of the verification of the content, which the reference in question satisfies.

Please use the talk page to discuss the content and come to an agreement, rather than reverting each other back and forth; edit summaries are not a substitute for discussion. - Aoidh (talk) 08:41, 16 May 2023 (UTC)Reply
