Hi. I added this section to the article, but it appears to have been removed. I feel it is something to be mentioned because it's rare to see so many high ranking players being knocked out of tournaments (especially those which are played as "Last 128" from the start):
Despite not reaching its conclusion, the tournament has already been noted for the high number of top-ranking players being knocked out in early rounds by lower ranked players. Players such as Ronnie O'Sullivan, Shaun Murphy, Barry Hawkins and Mark Allen have all been defeated at some point in the first three rounds of the tournament.

- Would news articles from places like the BBC count as a reliable source?

- Remember that Wikipedia is an encyclopedia not a newspaper. Might be worth adding after the tournament when the overall situation is clear. BTW Neither of the two sources you give mentions the high number of top-ranking players being knocked out in early rounds by lower ranked players. Nigej (talk) 15:44, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

- My comment was more to add it based on several observations of pundits in the broadcasts between frames (so from people like Willie Throne, Ronnie himself, and other such notable people in interviews). There isn't much that can be referenced, but it's just something that can be observed from the data given on the article as is. --CitroenLover (talk) 16:34, 15 February 2019 (UTC)

- you can't. Wikipedia summarises what reliable sources say. Making your own observations fails WP:OR. If the BBC came out and made a statement that they thought the levels of high ranked players progressing was low, however that would be different.
