Nissan number note edit

Purpose of Nissan number hatnote is to justify the deviation from the standard of using prior season’s number. James Moffat cite confirms sponsor will depart, and as the number was originally adopted to fit in with the sponsor’s product, it will change. Team nor driver had prior association with 360. While cite may not so in so many words, for a team to front up wearing a number best associated with a former sponsor which it or the driver has no historical ties to, would be like turning up to a second wedding, wearing the ring from your first…not going to happen.

Only alternative would be to run with 360, but not comfortable with this, knowing it highly likely to be incorrect. V7867 (talk) 08:18, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

The deviation does not need to be justified - merely cited. The footnote specifically says the change of number is "likely", which is in itself speculative, since you have no way to say for certain that the number will change. I agree that the number change is probably going to happen, but since that cannot be proven, it cannot be included. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 11:21, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Also, the number is assigned to the REC. It cannot be changed without an application to VESA. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 11:56, 14 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
The numbers notionally assigned to the two RECs were 11 and 16, although obviously the latter is not an option given that it is now with DJR. V7867 (talk) 00:17, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Exactly. You have no way of knowing what the number otherwise assigned to that REC is, nor can you say for certain that the number will be changed at all. All we can include in the article is the number we know. The reasons for that number are neither here nor there. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 00:36, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Whincup number edit

I forgot about this when creating the article, but as Fiore used 88 last year, should we change Whincup's to TBA until we know the T8 REC number is definitely 88? KytabuTalk 01:35, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

As the Lucas Dumbrell Motorsport REC is in the custody of V8 Supercars, the team would have no say in how the number was allocated. LDM was a Triple 8 customer last year, and as T8 would have been party to the arrangement that saw Fiore race under it, am sure it was only on the basis T8 didn't require and they could reclaim if required. The other LDM car raced under #80, which was T8's Development series number.
Don't think there is any reason to doubt #88 is the allocated number for the T8 REC that has worn the #1 plate for the past 3 years. Guess we will find out one day, although recent results indicate it may not be in 2015. V7867 (talk) 19:53, 15 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
Oooorrr... leave it blank? --Falcadore (talk) 00:15, 16 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
My proposal to just leave fields blank in tables rather than littering with TBAs was knocked back last year, bit too radical for some. V7867 (talk) 08:15, 16 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
What's wrong with "TBA"? It means "To Be Advised", and it is regularly used when supplementary information is missing. Prisonermonkeys (talk) 01:23, 17 September 2014 (UTC)Reply

Vehicle name format edit

There has been a bit of disagreement as to which format should be adopted for vehicles names:

  • Option 1: Manufacturer / Generational identifier / Model
    • Ford FG X Falcon
    • Holden VF Commodore
    • Nissan L33 Altima
  • Option 2: Manufacturer / Model / Generational identifier
    • Ford Falcon FG X
    • Holden Commodore VF
    • Nissan Altima L33

Historically option 1 has been used, but this was before a consensus was reached at Talk:Holden Commodore (VF)#Requested moves to adopt the wiki standard, with all articles renamed. V7867 (talk) 06:08, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

Yes that consensus applied specifically to article names, not to article contents. Wikipedias practice for vehicles has always been to use the names in use in the home market. I have no qualms with changing the article names. Referring to the cars themselves as Ford Falcon (FG X) in the article content is complete fiction. --Falcadore (talk) 09:19, 9 October 2014 (UTC)Reply

RNR/SBR entries edit

Just wanted to get people's thoughts on how the RNR and SBR entries should be displayed once they've used the FG X as well as the FG. Should be align the events column with each model or leave them separate? - KytabuTalk 07:10, 11 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Aligned:

Rod Nash Racing (PRA) Ford FG Falcon
Ford FG X Falcon
55   David Reynolds 1
2–14
  Dean Canto
Super Black Racing (PRA) Ford FG Falcon
Ford FG X Falcon
111   Andre Heimgartner 1–2
3–14

Separate:

Rod Nash Racing (PRA) Ford FG Falcon
Ford FG X Falcon
55   David Reynolds All   Dean Canto
Super Black Racing (PRA) 111   Andre Heimgartner All
Simpler is better. Always has been. Can use text to say when transition actually occurred elsewhere. --Falcadore (talk) 13:13, 11 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Option 2, detail can be held in text and/or team articles. V7867 (talk) 21:00, 11 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
