1 party city-state?

Ah, so multiple persons from the same party can be on the ballot? I don't think that's the way it worked when I lived there. In non-partisan elections, candidates aren't listed by party affiliation, so it would be inappropriate to add it on this page. Those who have pages will list it prominently there (Emanuel, Braun, Davis, etc.). --Muboshgu (talk) 15:38, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

They are listed on the ballot in the order in which they submitted their nomination petitions (most submitted at the same time, so a lottery decided). The District of Columbia still has a system of party primaries, Chicago doesn't, so I don't think it's necessary to add party here. Hekerui (talk) 15:45, 17 December 2010 (UTC)

I see. It's been 30 years since I left, but Cook County Democratic Organization indicates that the short answer to thread is: y. Interesting the manifestation of the two-party charade here. Apparently b4 the break-up of the Capone organization and construction of the current machine during the New Deal turnover, the GOP did similar service. Going back to the (civil) war, during which there was a democratic party Mayor, there was thereafter mostly GOP dominance but with a vital two-party system preceding and during the progressive era during which the parties alternated in holding the office. A number of interesting third parties such as the "Fireproof" and "Citizens" parties did during reconstruction and after the fire. 72.228.177.92 (talk) 11:46, 19 December 2010 (UTC)

Hanson

I removed Hanson from the list because he was knocked off the ballot. His court challenge is noted in the article prose and he can be readded if he is successful. Until then, he's not on the ballot. Hekerui (talk) 16:58, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
