Tie-breaking rules edit

We should put something in on the tie-breaking procedure.Zwart (talk) 07:01, 9 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

These are the procedures if you want to add:
All ties after the preliminary round will be settled as follows (in order): The ranking of the teams after the round robin shall be according to the win-loss record of all the games played. All ties after the 1st round, 2nd round and finals shall be settled in the order of the following list. That is, if criteria (a) does not break the tie, then it is no longer considered the criteria capable of breaking the tie, and the next criteria (b) will be used. This logic continues through the list, in order, until the tie is broken:
1. The team that won the game(s) between the teams tied shall be given the higher position.
2. The team that has the best Team's Quality Balance (TQB).
3. The team that has the best Earned Runs Team's Quality Balance (ER-TQB).
4. Highest batting average in games between the teams tied.
5. A coin flip.
TQB appears to be the (ratio of runs scored to number offensive innings played) - (the ration of runs allowed to number of defensive innings played) between the games played between tied teams. The full regs with examples is available here if you are interested. Ravendrop 07:08, 9 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
Got it. Thanks. Just wondering: how does a coin flip work in a three-way tie? Zwart (talk) 20:08, 9 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
I think if there were still a three way tie after that complex of a statistical comparison they would likely forego the coin flip and have a UFC style cage match between the managers. If Ernie Whitt ever manages team Canada again, my money would be on him.18abruce (talk) 04:08, 12 October 2011 (UTC)Reply

And, by the way, head-to-head in final standings is nonsense.--Anaxagoras13 (talk) 18:00, 9 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
