Current article lacks material on details such as: curfews, people and police who violated curfews, political objectives ( do people want a republic? ), seven party alliance, etc. --Noypi380 04:36, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Respect the spirit, this ain't a movie sequel

edit

If am really frustated when people call Jana Andolan II, as in MIBII and Spider-man II. Come on people, everything can't be cinema all the time.

Merge with Jana Andolan ?

edit

If the title of this page is Democracy movement in Nepal instead of Loktantra Andolan, it should merge with Jana Andolan. Both Loktantra Andolan and Jana Andolan are Democracy movements in Nepal. -- 199.71.174.100 20:57, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I think they should be kept seperate and this page changed to Loktantra Andolan or 2006 Democracy movement in Nepal. --Horses In The Sky 21:03, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Please move to 2006 Democracy movement in Nepal, or merge under the existing title. --199.71.174.100 00:39, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply
Done. --Noypi380 04:14, 24 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Little controversial?

edit

"The anti-democracy forces have received $20Bn of military hardware from the US taxpayer." - citation? Karlusss 21:58, 23 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

The anti-democracy forces never recieved money. The 20 million was given when Sher Bahadur Deuba was PM.

Rejected by most people?

edit

So far the only group to reject the king's latest statement were the Maoist rebels. The SPA has already agreed to reinstatment of Parilament.

Loktantra Andolan

edit

What is the correct translation of this, beacuse I'm pretty sure it's not 2006 democracy movement in Nepal. I think Andolan means movement. --Horses In The Sky 15:22, 26 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

I don't think this is लोकतन्त्र आन्दोलन (loktantra andolan). लोकतान्त्रिक आन्दोलन (loktantrik andoln) is correct in Nepali language.
* loktantrik andoln
* loktantra andoln

Well, both are correct. 'Loktantra Andolan' means 'Democracy Movement', 'Loktantrik Andolan' means 'Democratic Movement'. The odd thing is that when googling in latinized, 'Loktantra Andolan' get far much more hits than 'Loktantrik Andolan', whilst its the opposite when googling in devanagari. --Soman (talk) 20:36, 18 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Loktantrik Day

edit

A translation of "Loktantrik" would be helpful for readers. --Revolución hablar ver 16:34, 24 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Well I found this on "Loktantra" [1] (which I realise answers the question I posed above):
"Lok" means "folk" - so "Loktantra" would be full democracy, as opposed to a half-hearted version.
For Jana Andolan it can be effecitively translated as People's Movement so I would Loktantra Andolan can be translated as (Full) Democracy Movement. In terms of Loktantrik I am not sure but I assume it just means democracy as well, according to the Loktantrik Samajwadi Party page anyway. Horses In The Sky talk contributions
