What is the source for the data in the summary table of results?

It appears to contain errors for several total party votes and all of the percentages. I believe that the percentage changes since 2002 are correspondingly misstated as well.

Taking as my source the official results as published on Lambeth's website I have converted the .pdf to Excel and summed for candidates with the same party name.

The total votes cast sum to 180,669 compared to 179,969 currently reported on the page currently. i.e short by 700 votes - this appears to be the net effect of a 100 vote overstatement of the Conservative vote and 800 vote understatement of the Green vote. I believe the correct numbers for 2006 are:

Party	Absolute votes	Percentage share
Labour	71,725	39.70%
Liberal Democrat	52,480	29.05%
Conservative	34,667	19.19%
Green	17,560	9.72%
Other parties	4,237	2.35%

The most important effect is that the numbers currently quoted in the article are inconsistent with all other published sources which suggest that the Labour party gained control despite a marginal fall in their vote e.g.

The local election result in Lambeth in 2006 was very unusual. It was the one council anywhere in the country that Labour gained. It was also gained despite Labour’s vote actually falling a little since the last borough election in 2002.

The source I used in the original article were those figures published by Lambeth just after the election, it seems your corrected figures are from Lambeth's checking and updating their online info. Thanks for revisiting this data and correcting here. Fanx 02:20, 15 February 2007 (UTC)Reply
