More Detail needed edit

Can we please put more detail into this such as on the World Cup pages? i.e Referee for each match, goalscorers, top scorer e.t.c.

This is not a World Cup article. Kingjeff 16:05, 24 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

I don't think anyone claimed it was. It would be nice to have the same level of detail here but it's really not the sort of competition people are interested in unless their club is taking part. --JamesTheNumberless 10:28, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

I'm working on the brackets. Kingjeff 15:36, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Blackburn edit

Are blackburn locked in? What happens if Middlebrough win the cup, will the sixth place spot not be handed to them?

if Middlesbrough win the UEFA cup they take the slot reserved for the UEFA cup winners. Blackburn are qualified along with West Ham and either Arsenal or Tottenham.

According to uefa.com, the Scottish Cup runners-up, Gretna, are qualified automatically to the First Round, while the Scottish League 3rd place team, Rangers are in the 2nd qualifying round, not the other way round that it stated on this article. I've changed it so that it is correct according to uefa.com, but can anyone clear this up for me?

According to paragraph 1.05 of the UEFA Cup regulations, the place in the 1st round proper goes to the club that finished higher in the league, that is, Rangers. Conscious 13:20, 20 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

Serbia and Montenegro edit

I've started a discussion concerning flags displayed for the Serbian teams at Talk:UEFA Champions League 2006-07#Serbia and Montenegro. Conscious 15:38, 27 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

The Hostess in 2008/9 edit

Which country will host 2008 final and the 2009 final? I've seen in UEFA Site the final host nations but I haven't seen when they announce about the hosting nation

It is not relevant with the UEFA Cup 2006-07. KyleRGiggs 17:00, 17 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Derry FC edit

I didn't want to edit this as it might be a contentious issue, but Derry FC are actually based in Northern Ireland. The flag displayed next to them is the flag for the Republic of Ireland. I know that they play in the Irish league rather than the Northern Irish one.

Is there any precident for this when describing the nationality of a club? For example I know that Cardiff and Swansea both play in the English leagues, but if you asked any of their fans, they would still describe themselves as a Welsh team. I accept that may not be the case with Derry who are clearly aligned to the republic, both politically as well as in terms of their competition entry.

For the purposes of UEFA articles, the flags represent the country of the association through which that club qualified. So if Cardiff qualified, for example, they'd represent England (via the English FA) despite being located in Wales. - Pal 15:49, 28 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Actually, to further complicate matters - this rule is inadequate since Cardiff do NOT fall under the FA, but the Welsh FA instead. Hence when a player transfers from Cardiff to a club that falls under the FA, an International Clearance (ITC) request is required. But don't take it from me, I just write the FA's player registration software. --JamesTheNumberless 10:32, 16 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Changes during page protection edit

The 2nd Qualifying Round match BSC Young Boys   v   Marseille should be this way round as shown on the UEFA website, it needs swapping here. - MTC 07:15, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Done. Conscious 07:49, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Auxerre lost to OFK Belgrade 1-0 and Omonia Nicosia and Litex Lovech drew 0-0, that should be updated

Group Stages edit

Are the Group Stages seeded in any way? I cannot see from last season if there is any seeding or separation of teams from the same countries etc.. Anyone know of any such info ? doktorb wordsdeeds 10:29, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yep, 5 pots of 8 teams.[1] Conscious 10:31, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Bad Link edit

In UEFA CUP 2006/07 box bad link in competing: Wisła shouldn't refer to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wis%C5%82a_P%C5%82ock, but to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wis%C5%82a_Krak%C3%B3w —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.16.250.218 (talkcontribs)

Group Stage Article(s) edit

With the group stage fast approaching, should we create something along the lines of UEFA Champions League 2006-07 - Group Stage standings & results, or perhaps separate articles for each group in the style of 2008 UEFA European Football Championship qualifying Group A ? Archibald99 18:11, 29 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Group Stages edit

I have no confidence in updating the tables, but here is the draw as I wrote it down from the TV for those who have =)

Bracket edit

Since the draw for the quarterfinals and the semifinals are the same, perhaps a bracket can be added? --Howard the Duck 10:44, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Group D edit

Can someone check the final state of Group D? Lens, Odense, and Heerenveen all finished with 4 points, but the UEFA site is showing Odense in 3rd place, Heerenveen 4th and Lens 5th, not Lens - Odense - Heerenveen as we have it. Also ITV is showing Odense as a potential opponent of Spurs in the next stage! -- Arwel (talk) 21:55, 14 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Never mind (so much) - the UEFA standings page is now showing Lens in 3rd place, but still shows Heerenveen ahead of Odense! -- Arwel (talk) 08:05, 15 December 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism? edit

Why does it say that the final will be held in "Toilet, Capetown, Bhutan" and that the teams playing are China and Japan? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 72.142.212.28 (talk) 20:44, 3 May 2007 (UTC).Reply
