Requested move edit

Football World Cup 1986 (squads) → 1986 FIFA World Cup (squads) – following the consensus of naming the World Cup articles as FIFA World Cup in Wikipedia, and consistency of naming the major international football tournaments.

Discuss here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Competitions#Requested move of Football World Cup articles. --Pkchan 10:49, 4 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Moved per consensus. --Pkchan 14:04, 10 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

2 to 8 - Defenders in alphabetical order

16 to #17 - Flankers in alphabetical order

Contradiction edit

How about Iraq squad and FIFA Muhammad Azmi 05:21, 26 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Arabic names have three or more elements, and various English-language sources seem to pick one of these at random for each player as a "surname", and if necessary another at random as a first name or initial. This of course is done inconsistently between different sources. I've replaced the double-names listed with the triple-names in the external link, which seem to make sense for most sources I've seen. I came here looking for "Ba[r]meer Shaker", supposedly banned for a year for spitting at the referee after the Belgium game. I'm assuming it's Samir Shaker Mahmoud, since I've seen him listed as "B. Shaker" in some reports. jnestorius(talk) 09:26, 3 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Gerry Armstrong edit

I have changed Armstrong's club from West Brom as he left them in March 86 for Chesterfield until the end of the season. When it came to registering for the World Cup, Tottenham held the registrations of both Armstrong and Jennings. Armstrong discussed this with Danny Kelly on Talksport's My Sporting Life on 5/1/13. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Statto74 (talkcontribs) 10:09, 18 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
