In a recent edit, the magnitude was altered to 5.2 from 7.5, quite a change, and I understand why it was reverted, particularly as there was no edit summary and no source added. However, delving into it further, I came across this paper (Table 1), which gives a magnitude of 5.25-5.5 and a maximum intensity of VII for the earthquake and this paper, which gives a magnitude of 5.1 and intensity up to VII. It seem possible that the two sources used for the M7+ have confused intensity with magnitude. Mikenorton (talk) 15:48, 23 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
I was disturbed out of a sound sleep last night by a neighbor's loud music and was trying to get back to sleep, but with little luck. While awake, I took a look at my watchlist and saw the change that lacked an edit summary, so I restored it. Then looked further and found that yes, the magnitude is overstated, and has been since the the original editor added it a little over a year ago. Can anyone check the veracity of the coordinates given in the infobox? They are outside the city, which doesn't match well with the statements that the epicentre was in central Tashkent. The source given in the section above gives a different set of coordinates: 41°19′30″N 69°17′0″E, which is reasonably close to the geographic centre of the city.
