Endashes, unrecognized games

edit

Two questions. The first, where on a traditional keyboard do you find those longer dashes. I know someone has to correct them every time I type out shorter dashes. The second, in the future, should I include all games the football team played, even though they are not recognized on the school's official athletic records? I won't keep typing up an "unrecognized game" section if so. Murphanian777 (talk) 02:12, 15 May 2020 (UTC)Murphanian777Reply

Murphanian777 Yes, scores and won–loss records should be punctuated with an endash (–) not a hyphen (-). I'm not aware of a keystroke to type in an endash, but the endash is the first option under the "insert" or "Wiki markup" menus toward the bottom of the edit window. I often just copy/paste endashes from other articles or elsewhere in the same article. That works as well. Also, in the schedule tables, don't forget to note away and neutral site games. As for unrecognized games, I think it's better to have one schedule table, and then any unofficial or exhibition games can be noted as such and excluded from the final season record. In the specific case of the 1894 Wabash team, the school's own website is ambiguous. The history and coaching records pages indicated a 4–5 record, but the 1894 schedule page says 3–4, excluding the games against Elwood Club and Indianapolis Light Artillery.
