Category Sort Codes

re Category sort codes - eg |Ahoeitu in this case, where the article name is deliberately used without special characters - these are needed so that articles with unusual characters in their titles (like ' or macronised letters) will sort correctly in the list of the category. If this is not done, they will appear before A or after Z depending on the character. When the category sort code is used, this article will be listed under A (rather than '), but will appear as 'Aho'eitu. Some people (Americans especially) get upset if non-standard characters are used in article names, this is one way to keep them happy and out of our hair. Kahuroa 18:52, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

Well, we kinda have to care unfortunately. They would say that the Tongan sort order is irrelevant, that this is an English-language Wikipedia. I know because I had one of them tell me that about the Māori sort order with macrons. And they might even undo my work and your work and resist our attempts to change it back.
