Reyaz Ahmad Khan ( ریاض احمد خان) (born 10 April 1969 ), popular as Sher e Kuthar is an Indian politician from Jammu & Kashmir.He is a Member of the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly from 2024, representing Shangus–Anantnag East Assembly constituency as a Member of the Jammu & Kashmir National Conference party.[1][2][3]

Early life
editReyaz Ahmad Khan began his legal practice in the 1990s at the District Court in Anantnag and later extended his practice to the Jammu and Kashmir High Court, building a legal career spanning more than 28 years. He is regarded as one of the most fluent and accomplished lawyers in the bar.
Khan served as standing counsel for the Government of India for five years, appointed under the warrant of the president of India, before resigning from the post. He also served as president of the Anantnag Bar Association for a period of two years and continues to serve as legal counsel for Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
Personal life
editReyaz Ahmad Khan (born 10 April 1969) is a member of the Khan dynasty from Shangus, located in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir. He is the youngest male member of the third generation of his family.
Khan completed his early education at a local government school in Shangus. He then pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree from Government Degree College, Anantnag, and later obtained a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. Hons.) from the University of Kashmir.
Political career
editReyaz Ahmad Khan has been politically active since he joined the Bar Association as a legal member. His peers have honored him with the title of “Voice of the Voiceless” for his advocacy. Adv Khan is considered to be a close confidant of Abdullahs. He enjoys a great popularity among National Conference Leadership.
In 2014, Khan officially became a member of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) and was given the mandate to contest the assembly elections from Shangus, Anantnag. Although he lost to his opponent, he secured a vote margin of approximately 11,000.
Khan remained an active member of JKNC and is credited with playing a significant role in the party’s success in winning the Anantnag parliamentary seat twice. In 2024, he was once again given the mandate by JKNC to contest the assembly polls, where he defeated a four-time MLA and former minister by a margin of 18,000 votes, securing over 30,000 votes in total.
At present Khan serves as South Zone Secretary of Jammu and Kashmir National Conference.
