  • 2003 - Typhoon Maemi (pictured) reached its peak intensity to the east of Taiwan. Maemi killed 115 people and caused over $4 billion in damage, mostly in South Korea.
  • 2008 - Typhoon Sinlaku reaches peak intensity as a Category 4 with 10-minute winds of 185 km/h (115 mph) while to the east of Taiwan. In total, Sinlaku caused about $1.1 billion in damages and killed 14 people, directly or indirectly.
