Patikabari Shahi Mosque

Patikabari Shahi Mosque (Bengali: পাটিকাবাড়ী শাহী মসজিদ) is a defunct Mughal mosque located in Patikabari Union of Kushtia Sadar Upazila of Kushtia District. Jhaudia Shahi Mosque and this mosque are believed to be built at the same time. In 2014, the mosque was abolished and a new mosque was built. Since then the mosque came to be known as Patikabari Khamarpara Jame Masjid.[1][2]

History

The mosque was built by Shah Sufi Syed Ahmed Ali (Adari Mia Chowdhury) of Jhaudia during the reign of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb. Over time, the mosque fell into disrepair. In 1915 a person named Akbar Ali Chowdhury reformed.

As it disappears

Pantapara resident of Patikabari village ( UP member) saw the dilapidated state of the old mosque while raising chickens near the mosque, and with the help of local people, he demolished the old mosque and built the new mosque in 2014.

Structure

The mosque was built of burnt brick and lime mortar. The mosque had 3 domes. The mosque had 3 entrances. The mosque was 33 feet long and 19 feet wide. The wall thickness was 36 inches. 16 worshipers could pray in two rows of the mosque.
