Mayar Jonjal (Bengali: মায়ার জঞ্জাল), (English: Debris of Desire) is a 2023 Bangladeshi-Indian joint venture film directed by Indranil Roychowdhury. The film based on two stories Bishakto Prem and Subala by Manik Bandopadhyay. The film jointly produced by Bangladesh's company Views and Visions, and India, Kolkata based company Flipbook. The film premired various international film festivals. The film simultaneously released on 24 February 2023 in Bangladesh and India.[1][2][3][4]

Plot edit

A criminal finds himself enamored with a prostitute and hatches a scheme to elope with her earnings. However, his path takes an unexpected turn when he crosses paths with a recently unemployed factory worker, who is determined to prevent his wife from taking a job as a housemaid.

The film won the Best Feature Film Jury Award at the 'Encounter with Asian Cinema' competition section of the Asiatica Film Festival in Rome, Italy, Best Film at the Rainbow Film Festival in London, UK and the Asian Competition at the Dhaka International Film Festival for Screenplay.[citation needed]
