Habib Iddrisu is a Ghanaian politician who is a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).[1][2][3] He is the member of parliament elect for the Tolon Constituency in the Northern Region of Ghana.[4][5]

Iddrisu is currently serving as the Deputy Executive Secretary of Ghana Free Zones Authority in charge of Tema enclave.[2][4][6]

Hon. Habib Iddrisu is a member of New Patriotic Party and represent Tolon (Ghana parliament constituency) in the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.[7][8] In February 2024, he was designated as the deputy whip for the majority in parliament.[9]
2016 election edit
In the 2016 Ghanaian general election, Iddrisu stood for the Sagnarigu Constituency against the member of parliament Alhassan Bashir Fuseini of the National Democratic Congress and lost with 7,888 votes representing 20.7% against Fuseini's 26,898 votes representing 70.7%.[2][10]
Ahead of the 2020 elections, Iddrisu entered the race for the parliamentary candidate in the NPP primaries, this time around in the Tolon Constituency.[2] In June 2020, he won the primaries for the Tolon Constituency after defeating incumbent member of parliament Wahab Wumbei Suhuyini who had served as member of parliament for two terms and been in parliament since January 2013.[4][11][12] He won by getting 338 votes, while the incumbent had 164 votes and the rest of the three candidates had a total of 32 votes.[13]
Iddrisu was elected member of parliament for Tolon constituency during the 2020 December parliamentary elections.[5] He was declared winner in the parliamentary elections after obtaining 31,429 votes representing 58.37% against his closest contender Yussif Adam of the National Democratic Congress who had 22,145 votes representing 41.13%.[14][15][16][17]

In 2023, Hon. Habib Iddrisu received the Most influential personality in the five regions of the north award from Northern Excellence Awards due to his contributions to the development in this regions and the vital roles he played. Abdul Aziz Ayaba Musah and Farouk Aliu Mahama received this award on his behalf.[18][19]
Habib iddrisu has received many awards for his contributions to the development of his people. The northern excellence awards named him the rising politician of the year in march 2020.[20]
