Garakan (Persian: گركان), also Romanized as Garakān and Gerakān,[3] is a village in, and the capital of, Garakan Rural District of the Central District of Ashtian County, Markazi province, Iran.[4]

At the 2006 National Census, its population was 799 in 245 households.[5] The following census in 2011 counted 692 people in 232 households.[6] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 660 people in 221 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district.[2]
