Void Crew is a 2023 cooperative, sci-fi, multiplayer, action game developed by Danish studio Hutlihut Games and published by Focus Entertainment. The game is played by 1-4 players, with the objective to survive various challenges set in a fictional space called the Void. Players upgrade their spaceship as they progress through challenges by collecting materials and components, or through fabricating new modules which they can install in predefined slots.

The game features three fictional solar systems: Temperance, Endurance, and Bravery. Each of these locations pose different environmental hazards for the players, such as fire storms or ice debris. These locations also house non-player characters of two enemy factions that the players fight against: Remnants, and Hollows. Both of these factions aim to eliminate the players through space battles. The players can protect themselves by building weapon modules on their spaceship, which they can use to shoot down enemy spacecrafts.

Gameplay

edit

Players start out in an area called the Hub. The Hub is a safe place where enemies can not attack the players. By accessing terminals, the player can customize the appearance of their avatar, choose a mission, a spaceship, and adjust the settings of their lobby, such as maximum allowed player count, lobby name, or lobby visibility. Each lobby is private by default, which means the player can only add other players through invitation. If the player sets their lobby to public, it shows up on a public list which is accessible to all concurrent players.

The game offers two spaceships to the player: the Frigate and the Destroyer. The Frigate is a smaller ship that is ideal for smaller crews of 1-2 players. The Destroyer is larger, therefore more suitable for groups of 3-4 players.

Weapons fulfill different purposes depending on what kind of ammunition they are using. Energy-powered weapons are used for damaging enemy shields, and weapons that use physical bullets can damage spacecrafts that don't have energy shields protecting them.

Completing missions rewards players with experience points and cosmetic items. By collecting experience points, players level up and unlock upgrades, such as new ship modules or ammunition they can craft abord their spaceship.
