• Comment: This one is close in my opinion but not quite there. The WWD reference is strong as it covers here in-depth. The Forbes references seems good on the surface but falls under WP:FORBESCON. The other notable ones are Fashionista but this is an interview so cannot really be used for notability; and, The Garnette Report which seems in-depth but is only a few paragraphs. I looked online for additional but did not see anything suitable to show notability. If you know of a reference similar to WWD that covers her in-depth, please add to the draft. Teneshia Carr is a magazine editor and photographer. She founded Blanc Magazine in 2013.

Biography

Carr was born in Philadelphia. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Design and Visual Communications from London South Bank University.[1]

She started her career as a photographer in 2005.

She did photography work for brands such as Stephane St. Jaymes[2] and also consulting for a Japanese lingerie brand.[3]

She applied "200 times" for a position at Conde Nast before creating the magazine Blanc in 2013 with a collectif of artists in London: "I created Blanc to be my Trojan horse. It was my way to be seen in a white world. It was a way for me to sell this idea, combined with my idea of inclusivity, back to the same people who would never see me."[4][5] 2,500 prints of the first issue were distributed in London's libraries through a deal with Comag.[5] The first years running the magazine, her lack of network and her 'Afro' looks made it hard to connect and work with luxury brands.[6] In 2018, she confronted Gucci about a clothing that resembled a blackface,[1] and started a collaboration with the brand.[4]

In 2022, she recruited Kevin Martinez, former publisher of Elle, Details and Maxim, to contribute to Blanc Magazine.[5] In 2023, she launched the brand content agency Blanc Space.[6][3] By 2023, Blanc Magazine was a 100,000 prints-per-issue magazine distributed in 25 countries.[5][3] In September 2023, she sponsored the Milan Fashion Hub for new and emerging designers along with the Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana.[7]
