Oakhampton railway station was a railway station on the North Coast line, serving the west Maitland suburb of Oakhampton, New South Wales, Australia.

History

edit

Oakhampton opened on 14 August 1911[1], when a railway line (that would become part of the North Coast line) was built between Maitland railway station on the Main North line, and Dungog railway station. Much like other stations on the North Coast line built at the same time, Oakhampton most likely originally had full-length platforms. However, by the time of closure the station consisted of two small wooden side platforms only a few metres across, with no other facilities. It closed to passenger services on 20 October 1975.

During it's existence, Oakhampton was not a significant station; in the 1936 timetable it was labelled as an unstaffed station.[2] Little much else is known about the station at this time.

Platforms & services

edit

In 1936, Oakhampton was served by four trains per day (tpd):[2]

On Sundays, Oakhampton was served by one request-only train to Kempsey.
